[V13] VSA with SCVMM

Post by nmdange »

Still on V12, planning an eventual upgrade/move. Right now, to be able to backup Hyper-V VMs using SCVMM, you need to install the SCVMM Console on the Backup server itself. Obviously, that's not possible with the appliance. Is there (or will there) be a way to add Hyper-V VMs with SCVMM using the appliance?

We have a lot of clusters and fairly regularly need to move VMs between clusters. SCVMM is (I think) the only way for Veeam to track VMs between clusters, so we aren't creating duplicate backups.

Hello nmdange,

Sure, SCVMM scenario if fully supported and was reworked specifically for Veeam Software Appliance. With Kerberos authentication in place we can collect the information about Hyper-V machines from SCVMM and if you do not have Kerberos environment configured you can use certificate-based authentication via deployment kit option. Thank you!
