Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch

Post by vitami »

Hi

After installing the Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch (https://www.veeam.com/kb4771) I am now wondering how to update the windows agents without manually running the agent installer on each system. Currently the agents are on version 6.3.2.1205 but there is no button in the console to update the agent, even after rescanning.
Is there a way to update the agent version rolled out by veeam b&r server?

Thanks

Hello vitami,

The fix is automatically applied to all managed agents during a rescan. For 'Pre-installed agent' protection groups and manually managed agents you might need to follow instuctions in this KB article Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.3.2.1302 Private Fix Deployment Information. Thank you!

For a little clarification... Does the hotfix for B&R include a fix for version 1205? Just like the OP, I still see 1205 after the hotfix and rescans. The stand-alone installer indicates there is a version 1302.

Thanks!

Is there some way to validate whether/when the hotfix has been applied? Viewing "Details" from the Physical Infrastructure > Manually Added > Inventory shows the "Agent" value as 6.3.2.1205. Checking Programs and Features on the target PC also shows the version as 6.3.2.1205. I'd like to confirm that the hotfix/update has been applied - at this point, I can't be sure. Thanks.

VBR kb4771 patch and agent version

Post by jcowan_nz »

We’ve just applied the latest VBR kb4771 patch and have a question.
This KB says the fix “will be installed automatically during a rescan of the Protection Group."
https://www.veeam.com/kb4778?utm_source ... mcomkb4778

We’ve performed numerous successful rescans - how do we confirm the patch has been installed and should the agent version on the machine agents show the new 6.3.2.1302 version?
After PG rescan and even agent uninstall/reboot/reinstall the agent version remains showing 6.3.2.1205 in the machine details – is this a bug or by design?

I do see a small detail at the bottom of the details window for the VM - is this how we tell it's installed?

After Veeam B&R is patched and a rescan session has been performed, you can right-click any managed agent under Inventory > Protection Group, select Details from the menu, and check the agent properties for the installed fixes. The displayed fix number should be 1076569.

For standalone agents or pre-installed protection group agents, you can verify that the fix is applied by checking the registry:

Key: HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Endpoint Backup\PrivateFixes\6.3.2.1205\1076569
Property: State = 3

We will update the referenced KB article accordingly. Thank you!
