Clarification of throttling behaviour

Post by BigM »

Hi Team,

Just looking to clarify the throttling behaviour in VBR 13.

We are running a Secure Appliance and are looking to backup Oracle workloads (Dataguard config) on Windows Server 22.
As it is Dataguard, we are using the standalone agents and letting RMAN control the backup logic.
The end target is a DataDomain.

Based on this setup, should I expect a network throttle (between the Oracle servers and the DataDomain Gateway server) set in VBR to be honoured?

I'm finding mixed information online, but the VEEAM docs suggest that the RMAN Standalone plug-in use a "Data Mover" so I think this should be honoured...

Thanks!

Hi Mitch,

Yes, the throttling settings will be applied between the database server and the gateway server where the Data Mover is running. Alternatively, you can set a dedicated network traffic throttling rule on the plug-in side. Please find more details on this page.

Thanks!
