Hyper-V quiescence vs crash-consistent
hi,
Veeam app-aware processing is no option right now but is always my standard in all other scenarios.
should i use Hyper-V quiescence instead of crash-consistent? is it safe/ recommended?

I would use the production check points if available. It will leverage Integration Services to make sure the VM's are in a consistent state prior to backup.

We've been using Hyper-V Native Quiescence since we switched to Veeam a decade ago and have never had any issues.

Re: Hyper-V quiescence vs crash-consistent
If Application Aware Processing isn't viable for some reason, native quiescence is better than crash-consistent.
Keep in mind that very likely items like Application Restores will be impacted.
Out of curiosity, what prevents you from using our Application Aware Processing? (I believe you that it's not feasible in this instance, just interested in the reason)

Hi David,
thank you for the recommendation.
tbh, i dont know all of the details. my colleague told me that the Hyper-V node kind of freezes if app-aware with powershell direct mode is enabled.

Re: Hyper-V quiescence vs crash-consistent
Understood, sounds like a technical issue so I would at least start with a Support Case and let Veeam Support help narrow down what is happening according to the logs.
That you've identified PSDirect as a potential culprit is a good start, but probably we can investigate a bit more.
