Bug report - Displaying cluster objects in protection groups

Post by mortenr »

Hi

I think I have found a bug in VBR v13 in relation to protection groups while migrating servers from v12 to v13. Specifically it looks like there are some issue managing cluster objects.

I have configured the following:
-Created an AD group 'Cluster_objects'
-Created a 'Microsoft Active Directory objects' protection group 'AgentClusters in Veeam
-Added the AD group 'Cluster_objects' to protection group 'AgentClusters'
-Added a cluster object CLUPRO01 to AD group 'Cluster_objects'

When I rescan the protection group in the Veeam console, cluster object and the underlying servers SRVPRO01 and SRVPRO02 are correctly detected and displayed in the Veeam console.
Now, if I expand the protection group and select the group 'Cluster_object', a list of contained cluster objects and servers are listed in the main window.
If I select a server SRVPRO01/SRVPRO02 in the main window and perform a rescan, this runs fine. But if I select the cluster object CLUPRO01 in the main window and perform a rescan, this fails with the following errors:
19/05/2026 12.04.15 Succeeded : Processing CLUPRO01.mydomain.net
19/05/2026 12.04.17 Succeeded : Cluster node CLUPRO01.mydomain.net was removed from failover cluster CLUPRO01.mydomain.net
19/05/2026 12.04.17 Warning : Failed to connect to CLUPRO01.mydomain.net Details: update or delete on table "backup.model.ephosts" violates foreign key constraint "fk_backup.model.ephosts_parent_cluster_id" on table "backup.model.ephosts"
19/05/2026 12.04.17 Warning : Processing finished with warnings at 5/19/2026 12:04:17 PM
From this point, the cluster object no longer shows as 'Online' and any rescan (protection group/AD group/object) fails with the same message.
If I remove the AD group from the protection group and add it back in, this seems to reset the 'failed state' on the cluster object until it is rescanned again.

In v12, the cluster objects were displayed in the Inventory window as a child object of the AD group and only cluster servers listed in the main window.
But in v13 both cluster objects and servers are now listed in the main window and it looks like there is a bug in managing this.

Clarification: I am referring to a Windows Failover Cluster computer object.
