Veeam Snaps in Scale

Post by bwat283 »

When Veeam runs a backup, it is taking a snapshot and expires them in 30 days. Why is it at 30 days? Some clusters have storage constraints, can it be changed to only keep the snap for 3 days if it is weekend full that might take a time?

@bwat283 under normal conditions you should not see snapshots persisting for 30 days. There should only be one retained snapshot between each job run which is replaced by a new snapshot each time. We do not explicitly set an expiry on our snapshots as they inherit the system default. We do know there are some corner cases where snapshots may persist and are working on "snapshot hunter" functionality for the Scale platform but this should far and away be the exception.

We have 4 Scale clusters and all 4 of them are keeping for 30 days. I would be happy to change a config file in VBR, but then if a update reverts it, I would prefer it gets patched.
If you want me to open a support case so I can get you logs and screenshots, I would be happy to.

@bwat283 definitely not the behavior we expect. You should open a support case
