Backup of a proxy VM

Post by damocue »

Hello,

I found something interesting: I have a VM which I had backups of it with normal read data (only changed data) and CBT use. But after becoming this VM a proxy (backup and repository), I lost CBT use, and on each backup iteration, all data on VM is readed. Is this a normal behaviour or not?

Before opening an issue I'd like to know other users' opinion.

Regards,

This is by design , there are some potential issues with CBT on a hotadd proxy , so we disable CBT for any of our Proxy VM's I would move the proxy role to a smaller VM , or one that you dont plan on backing up.

This is also another good reason for using dedicated proxy VM. Small VMs, no changes on their content unless patching windows or upgrading Veeam itself.
And most of all, they are disposable, you can even convert one of them to a template VM and redeploy when needed, much faster and less painful than debugging errors.
