VSS Backup fails

Post by digex »

I have a question is ESX 3.0.1 supported for VSS backups using Veeam Backup 3.1? Whenever I run a back it fails with VSS enabled on a SQL 2005 VM. Error code:5.

Yes, Veeam VSS implementation should work for all ESX versions. What is the actual error saying? Feel free to contact our support with all logs from Help | Support information, and they will investigate.

Take into account i edited the host ip for my own security hehe. Could it be that I only have 2GB free space on C: volume?

No, from the error it is clearly security/permissions issue.

Can you logon with account specified in Veeam VSS option to your Veeam Backup computer, and try to connect to remote registry of this VM? If this fails, fix the account's permissions until you are able to do this. If you can do it but Veeam Backup still fails, please contact our support - we have a fix for one issue around Veeam VSS and permissions, so this may help.
