Backup Proxy: only one core detected on a 8-core machine

Post by jacques_de »

Hello,

I am running Veeam Backup & Replication (30 days trial) on a 8-core machine (Intel Xeon E5520 2,27 GHz) with Windows 2003 R2 Server (x64) with SP 2. I cannot set the Backup Proxy "max concurrent tasks" value to more then 1 concurrent task, bacause obviously only one core is being detected.

How can I fix this?

Thanks,
Jacques

The Intel Xeon E5520 is a quad core CPU with a max number of 8 threads due to Hyper-Threading (http://ark.intel.com/products/40200/Int ... -Intel-QPI). This is the reason why you can see "8 CPUs" in your Windows Taks Manager. But anyway you should be able to set the max number of concurrent tasks at least to 2 because of 4 physical cores of your CPU.

Also because the max cuncurrent tasks is a suggested value, but you can set whatever you want on a Veeam proxy. Tested right now in my virtual proxies with 4 vCPU, I configured 10 and it was accepted.
Suggested value is 2 cores per cuncurrent job.
