Custom Time Periods

Post by fortch »

Am I the only one having trouble seeing data graphs (e.g. Virtual Storage IOPS for Child VMs) in a custom time period? Any of the preset time periods work fine, and even going back with hour intervals (e.g. 6 hours), but as soon as I configure a custom (e.g. 4:00:00am - 4:30:00am), I receive No data available.

Hi Chris,

Do you have this behavior for all the counters? Do you see any data if you choose past day, week etc as a reporting interval?

Thanks!

Yes...and like I said, the standard choices under Period, as well as the Last x Hours, work fine. Only the Custom From-->To interval is problematic. Looking at it closer, it seems as if the time changes to Standard Time (GMT+8) when you put in a Custom interval -- so when I choose 8-9pm PST last night as my choice, I actually get statistics from 4-5am this morning. I've checked the manual, but didnt see anything mentioning this odd little snippet; am I taking crazy pills, or is this already known?

EDIT: I just re-read what I wrote, and it just confused me :D Hopefully you can validate that something ain't right, even if I didnt describe the issue accurately!

Chris, you're not crazy, no worries! Currently we have a known issue with custom intervals which display data in UTC, our R&D team is already aware about this issue.

As to the custom periods not displaying data at all, then this is odd, you should see everything, since other default periods work fine. Can you please get in touch with our support team and let them take a look at your Veeam ONE debug logs?

Whew, thanks V -- I figured out that it only displays no data when the timeframe chosen is in my future (with the skewed clock). So if I choose an interval that's -8 hours or *less*, which would put the data past my current time, then bingo...nothing.

[MERGED] : Custom Time Period

Post by roadking »

After upgrading to 6.5 (free version) I attempt to view a datastore I/O chart using a custom time period

Example --

From 05/09/2013 -- 1:00:00 AM
To 05/09/2013 -- 4:00:00 AM

The range in the chart is off significantly showing time range from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Any ideas what that could be? I have applied patch 1 for version 6.5 already

Thanks a lot

Hi, Robert. From my perspective, your issue seems to be exactly the same as a well-known one described above (custom interval displaying data in UTC).

Thanks.

Yes, Vladimir is correct. The issue with custom periods will be addressed in v7 that should be available later this year.

Great! Any idea when that would be available -- 6 months - 3?

Sure would be good to get that fixed soon

Thanks a lot folks !!

At the same time as VB&R version 7 is scheduled to come out - Q3 of this year.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
