Application Groups and AD

Post by hasnuman »

Hi,

I m testing Veeam 6.5 and very new on Veeam (current one is Backup Exec V-Ray). I have a question about backup verification.

Normally as I know, when you restore DC from VM image, you have to restore system state via Directory restore mode.

Interesting thing for me is backup verification, is it enough to;

*put DC in application group tag it with DNS, GC, etc..
*put second dependent server like Exchange...

and start test.. Without any system state restore..???

Thanks,

Hasan

With Veeam this is not required, assuming that you've backed up the DC VM with application-aware image processing.

Please take a look a these links for more info: Veeam B&R v5 recovery of a domain controller and Domain controller restore
