Identifying tape used in a duplicate job

Post by martylearman »

Has anybody worked out the easiest way to identify which tape is being used in a duplicate job through Veeam7?
I'm using a secondary target in my backup job which duplicates the backup job itself to tape but I then find it difficult to find out which tape was actually used without trawling through the file list on each tape under 'backup infrastructure'.
Am I missing something really obvious?
Thanks for your help
Marty

Marty, any chance your library has a barcode reader or you are using blind library?

You can right click tape media under media pool, choose Properties, hit the Files tab and see what .vbk/file resides on this media.

Of course, it could be difficult in case you have hundreds of tapes - so for the scenario where you need to know what exactly is backed up to the currently exported media you can use create media set for each backup session setting in Media Set Options of the media pool.

Marty, you can open the backup to tape job log session, select the particular backup job in the list to the left and see the tapes used during the session. Are you probably looking for something like that?

I find the tape list by using 'Report' on the job. It shows the list of tapes used in the summary. I wonder if that's what you meant...
