Choosing the VSS provider for a job

Post by daniflexx »

In my environment I have HyperV with a VSS Hardware provider installed (DataCore)

When a job runs, sometimes uses the VSS Hardware provider to the the job and sometimes the Microsoft CSV Shadow copy provider.

Is there any way to force which provider I want to use?

Dani, right-click the host under Backup Infrastructure node, select Manage Volumes, and specify the required provider. Thanks.

Also it is worth checking old sessions where MS CSV Provider was used.
Veeam have failover functionality, so job using MS provider may indicate some problems with Hardware one.

I have seen this in the past when using the hardware vss provider and onhost where the job may failover to the Microsoft CSV Provider. I have never seen this with offhost when you uncheck the box "failover to onhost".
