Hi Daniel,

What number of retries would you like to increase? The ones that happen on building synthetic full or a backup copy attempt retry?

Thanks!

Daniel,

Then please specify this reg key under main Veeam backup registry hive:

Code: Select all

BackupCopyMaxEntryBuildRetries REG_DWORD 5
BTW, why do you want to increase the default value? Do you see many failed attempts to retrieve VM data?

Thanks!

Should I put this value in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication" ?

Yes, coz I'm transferring data over WAN which is slow and not stable recently.

Tried putting the reg value of 20 under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication" or "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication", the maximum number of retries remain 5. I have also restarted the veeam backup service, didn't help.

Yes, you should put the key under this registry hive:

Code: Select all

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication
BTW, it seems like I've given you the wrong key, my bad. Please use this one:

Code: Select all

BackupSyncMaxRetriesPerOib

Another use case is resuming the copy job after the source server reboots overnight for Windows Updates installation during a copy job's run.

In this case you need just one retry, so no need to change the default value.

I`d suggest to use WAN Acceleration along with backup copy jobs for faster and more reliable retry.

[MERGED] Backup copy to USB disks

Post by davidhodges86 »

Hi,

We have a Backup Copy job to rotated USB disks. Over the weekend the disk wasn't attached but the copy job kept retrying so I ended up with about 100 failure emails.

Does anyone know if it's possible to set a retry limit on a copy job?

Hello David,

Try the suggested registry key and let us know if that works for your environment! Cheers!
