app item restore via powershell direct ?

Veeam Logoby nblazincic » Fri Jun 09, 2017 2:41 pm

Can I backup and restore application item (for instance sql db), via powershell direct ?. There are some cases where I would like that VM does not have direct connection to the backup network, but I would like to be able to recover to item level. Example: We have a large sql server that is on separate vlan secured by firewall. If I want to do restore of large db on that server, I am limited with firewall throughput. Yes, I can do a separate vNIC and have a direct connection, but it's additional overhead.

Tnx, Nikola

In case of Hyper-V 2016 if application items cannot be backed up and restored through network method, PowerShell Direct will be used as alternative. However, if I recall it correctly, there are certain limitations - guest OS must be either Windows Server 2016 or Windows 10 or something like that. Thanks.

Tnx Vladimir but backup is not an issue. Issue is that I want to do a restore of app item via powershell direct. I guess that this is currently a problem because Veeam uses a iSCSI mount from target machine (or machine that sql explorer runs) to backup repository.
