First off, my support case ID is 02359179
[VSS_WS_FAILED_AT_PREPARE_SNAPSHOT]. Error code: [0x800423f4]
We are getting this error at a number of our sites, always only failing on the AD Sync servers. It is breaking the SQL Vss Writer.
We are wondering if there is a way to setup scripting to turn off AD Sync and the SQL back-end before the backup is started, and then restart the same after the backup completes.
Has anyone attempted this before? If so, with what results?
Support has directed us to call Microsoft to get further assistance, as it is a Vss Writer failing, but I would rather not go down that rabbit hole.

Have you tried pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts already? Or you're looking for actual script body? Thanks.
