Creating Application Groups

Veeam Logoby y1008946 » Tue Dec 17, 2013 7:39 am

Hi, we have a server offsite which we send backup copy jobs to.

On the offsite server we have another install of Veeam which we have imported the backups into.

There doesnt appear to be a way to create an application group, to allows us to create a surebackup job on these backups.

What I am trying to do is create a powershell command to create an application group from the imported backups, is this possible?

Thank You

Daniel,

I guess I know what step you're missing. You cannot just verify imported backups, you need to create a job for these files first and then create a SureBackup job. I have explained this in your other thread.

As to SureBackup job configuration, there are some existing topics that might be helpful > search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=application+group&fid%5B%5D=26

Thanks!

Hi Thanks Vitaliy we will try this if we cannot get it to work with powershell. I dont see how to point a backup job to the backup copy files though?

What we have done is create a powershell command to create an application group from the imported backups, this worked successfully using the command

$ibfOibs = (Get-VBRBackup -Name "DC01 Backup Copy to Offsite").GetLastBackupOibs()
Add-VSBApplicationGroup -Name "Test App Group" -RestorePoint $ibfOibs

It creates the application group and shows the VM, but when we create a surebackup job using this application group we get the error:

No Object in Backup found for VM 'DC01' (ID 'xxxxxxxx.......

I've tried different imported backups and VMs but cannot get past this error.

Support case id 00492202

Thank you

Did you create a backup dummy job pointed to these backup copy files?

Hi vitaliy, I tried both ways.

When I created the app group through powershelll, the sure backup job failed with the error.

When I tried to create the dummy job I couldn't see how to point it at the files on the server from the backup copy job.

Which part of the backup job settings is used to point it at the files?

Many thanks

Please see our on-line help center to locate backup mapping functionality > http://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/70/v ... ge_vm.html
