Get Orphaned Restore Points Retention

Post by jdodd6 »

Hello,

Is there a command, property, or object I can manipulate for orphaned backups and see their retention? I would like to get an orphaned backup's retention period for planning purposes.

Hi Joel,

Regrettably, this data is not exposed via powershell at this time, neither with supported cmdlets nor unsupported methods. So unfortunately, right now not a means of automating reporting on this in the current version.

Can you describe the use case that you're trying to plan for a bit more? We may be able to handle this a different way.

Hello
I've asked the same here:
veeam-backup-replication-f2/background- ... 97347.html

I have a Legacy Backup Copy job with 10 years retention and a lot of GFS restore points. Almost 2 PB big. If I go to the job's settings, I can see the retention set there. If an auditor asks, and they do ask ;-), I can show him "Hey, look, these are the retention settings being applied".

Once we convert it to the new job format, the old one will be moved to the orphaned section and the old job's settings will disappear (no longer applicable). It is not only interesting to us (IT), but how can I tell the auditor how long are they going to be kept? It is also important for capacity planning.

Best regards
Seve
