Unable to send report via Exchange Online

Post by fabio75 »

Hello.

I use VEEAM and Exchange Online everywhere. I never had this problem.
Freshly configured Exchange Online and freshly installed VEEAM Backup and Replication.
When I try to configure email notification I get error stating that something went wrong, maybe Username and Password... this is not true.
There must be something in Exchange Online new default that is blocking VEEAM to send e-mail via SMTP protocol.

Someone know how to fix?

Thank you.

We are not aware of any changes on this front. Could you open a support case for insight and let us know the case ID?

Would this maybe be related? Microsoft is disabling basic SMTP authentication in M365 tenants where it is not actively being used. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchan ... nge-online

Johan.h is right, and especially new tensnts will have it blocked by default. If this the case, I would rather try to send the mails unauthenticated to your Exchange Online MX record.
That would be Option 2 or Option 3 if the following article:
