Searching for report on actual storage use of the backups

Post by GabesVirtualWorld »

Hi
Going to buy new storage and would like to get a report that gives me the following info:
- Per VM (and all VMs not just top10): vmdk size
- Size of the backup of this VM on the storage (so, how much is actually written to Veeam backup disk)
- View on the growth of the daily backups

Tried to find a report in Veeam One v7 but couldn't find what I need. Even tried RAW reports, but no luck.

Any tips?

Hi Gabrie,

1. You can use Custom Infrastructure report with these parameters:

Object Type: Virtual Machine
Columns: Name, Virtual disk size etc. (pick the ones you need)

2-3. Check out Veeam Backup Files Growth and Backup Billing reports, should give you the numbers you're looking for.

Let me know if that helps!

Hmmm Partly what I was looking for. This is at job level instead of VM level for point 2-3.

Yes, you're right, but I'm not sure there is a way to determine a single VM backup size because of the shared/deduped blocks with other VMs in the job...
