Who has an example of XML of inquiry which starts restoration of the virtual machine under a new name and into the specified storage, without changing operation of the original virtual machine. For Vmware, Vserver

This isn't as featured as you would hope - same goes with the likes of replicas where none of the nice GUI options are available via the API.

Your options are all here / some are required for the various platforms (vsphere vs vcloud director etc)

You will need to use the lookup service to find the desired datastore reference to restore onto as part of that VmRestoreParameters payload
