Backup job includes non-existing VMs

When requesting the VMs included in a certain job (https://<Enterprise-Manager>:9398/api/jobs/{ID}/includes) the returned data includes vms that no longer exists.
These VMs are not showed in the Enterprice Manager itself. Removing them from the job using the API is not successful. The VM remains included in the job.

Any idea what's causing this behaviour and hiow to solve it.

Did you notice if this issue is relevant to a particular job type? Or it seems to be random?
