FR - readonly role to get-jobs endpoint

Post by hayliz »

Hello everyone,
We use the GET-endpoints “/jobs” and “/query?type=Job” in the Enterprise Manager to perform backup job monitoring. Unfortunately, the endpoint can only be accessed with Portal Administrator -> https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

From monitoring and security point, it is only necessary to execute this query with a read-only account. The idea here is to enable the endpoint for read only permission as well. But the instructions say “Portal Administrator role only”.

Why is the read-only role not included here? The read-only account can see and list the backup jobs on the UI. Therefore, I don't understand the reason why the GET query for the API is only enabled for portal administrators.

We would like to submit a FR with this post.

Best regards
Abdullah

Hello Abdull,

Currently, there are no plans to introduce new REST API features for Enterprise Manager. We will continue to migrate existing API endpoints and add new capabilities and workload types only to the Backup Server API.

Have you tried using similar endpoints in the Backup Server API? Users with the Veeam Backup Viewer role can access this API endpoint.

Another option to consider is the Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC) API, which may be useful if you want to monitor multiple backup servers. The VSPC API provides read-only access keys.
