Veeam Enterprise Manager BackupTaskSessions are not available for agent backup jobs - Feature request

Post by chrismatthews17 »

Case ID: 07622556

For a particuler workcase (Automation Backup Script) for a customer I'm finding several features missing with Agent Backups which are available for VM backups, this makes my code more difficult to read as I'm consantly having to find work arounds, it would be nice if both types would be handled in the EM RestAPI.

"After the Job has completed (BackupJobSession State is "Stopped") within the Links there, is a Type "BackupTaskSessionReferenceList" which returns a link to a list of individual "BackupTaskSessions" with Results, etc, for VM Backups. For Agent Jobs [Issue] the tasks are not returned."

Hi Chris,

As I mentioned in your other topic, the Enterprise Manager REST API will not receive new features.
But good news, in our upcoming version 13.* release vehicle, we plan to introduce support for Managed Agents in our Backup Server API.
I suggest waiting for version 13.* and then migrating your script/implementation from the Enterprise Manager API to the Backup Server API.

- Veeam Backup & Replication REST API

Maybe you can use PowerShell for now as an alternative.

Hi Fabian,
Thanks for your quick reply, you can guess that I'm slightly disapponted, but never mind IT changes often.
I don't think Powershell is an option as the script has to run on different OS Types and Verions e.g. Windows & Linux (older releases), we are using python (with request), RestAPI is the best way.
Does this mean that the Enterprise Manager will also disappear or is this just the RestAPI on the endpoint 9398 which is beeing frozen out.
Have you considered documenting the 9443 RestAPI Endpoint as it has much more features (which I'm having to use, of course unsupported)?
Do I start adding Feature requests version 13.* RestAPI here, and do you have a Beta OpenAPI Schema or Feature list yet that you can share?
I know, too many questions, Sorry.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris

Enterprise Manager and the EM API won't disappear. You can expect both to remain and be fully supported in the next major versions. For now, it's just the API (9398) that will be gradually migrated to the new Backup Server API.
Have you considered documenting the 9443 RestAPI Endpoint as it has much more features (which I'm having to use, of course unsupported)?
We only document supported API endpoints. Special API endpoints used by our internal components are not supported and we have no plans to document them publicly.

You can share feature requests for the Backup Server API here in our forum.
We don't have a BETA version yet, and the feature list for v13 is not finalized. We may be able to share it shortly before the release.
