Feature request, custom role able to select HPE Essentials VMs

Post by sdolcourt »

Veeam case 08058292

Via the custom role process, selecting for VM's as a work load, only shows VMware and Hyper V. There is currently no means to select HP VMs, even if the Morpheus plug in is installed on the VBR server.

Obviously....the request is to include HP VM's in the selection of VM workloads, as to permit the creation of a custom role that can specifically manage HP VM's.

Hi Seth,

Our goal is to extend custom RBAC roles over the next versions to all supported hypervisors in Veeam Backup & Replication.
However, we can’t confirm yet when this will be extended to HPE VME. Nevertheless, your request has been noted.

Best regards,

Hi, Fabian,

Thank you, understood.

I'd invite that if a plug in is released, that the ancillary management actions are also updated. The benefit of backing up and restoring Morpheus (as a new VM platform) is appreciated, that it cannot be managed by custom RBAC is, in short, a half-done solution.

Hi Seth,

I fully understand the need for feature parity across all supported hypervisors. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to deliver 100% of the functionality on day one — doing so would make development take much longer, and we wouldn’t have a HPE VMe integration today.

Our approach is to deliver basic functionality first: backup, and most importantly, restore capabilities. This way, customers can start protecting their environment while we continue to integrate the new hypervisor with additional functionality in our product.

Best regards,
Fabian
