VM Backup Compare

Post by bwat283 »

We are using Scale Computing plugin.
Is there a way for Veeam to look at the list of VM's in the datacenter and what you have in backup jobs and alert you on ones that are not being backed up? We do not backup the datacenter root as we do have some VM's that are toss away vms that we dont have issues rebuilding like our jumphosts, etcc. So I can look at the list and ask the coworker why they did not add it to one of the veeam jobs if it is one that is going to be production?

Hi BrianW,

No, the product does not provide that functionality today. However, I do see a possible alternative with our upcoming v13.1 release of Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam ONE.

We plan to add Protected VM Reports for Scale Computing in Veeam ONE v13.1. What I would suggest is creating that report in Veeam ONE and exporting it as a CSV file. Then, export the full VM list directly from Scale Computing using the methods they provide.

After that, you can compare both CSV files in Excel or with an AI tool to create a list of unprotected VMs.

Best,
