9.5u3 Agent mgmt: failed to acquire agent managed by Vac
Hi, is there anyway to cleanup some old VAC Agents on an Client/Server?
VAC Agent is deinstalled allready, can't find anything left in registry or on filesystem from vac communication Agent.

Did you remove the management agent manually or via VAC console? To release VAW from VAC, you need to de-activate it using the VAC UI.

Hi Stephan,
Can you see these hosts under Unmanaged protection group? Please perform the following test – open backup job wizard on a computer with local agent, go to repository step (do not edit it just open this step) and click finish. Open the Veeam B&R console and create a new protection group with this host. Perform rescan of this protection group and let me know the result.

Re: 9.5u3 Agent mgmt: failed to acquire agent managed by Vac
i tried this... but doesn't look like to help with my issue...
hadn't vaw installed... i did this manually now, configured the backup manually and also was on the about page... but still when i try to refresh the protection group i get the error message...
i see the server a short moment in the gui but then it got removed again...
could it be a issue that the partical server is the veeam b&r server itself? (would like to have a system state backup of this physical machine!)
btw. i killed my complete veeam server today... as i had the idea of cleaning the veeam agent from the machine... i didn't checked the cleaning script, but what that does is primarily delete all files from program files...
long story short: after that i had a lot of fun removing the remaining pieces and reinstalling veeam b&r

i can't actually start a backup... always get "Error: Your license has expired, and your grace period is over. To continue using the product, obtain a new license. "
tried to recreate agent db, no luck. deleted agent license from b&r (and enterprise manager) -> agent still says its licensed and manged by administrator...
is there any way to clean/remove the license from agent?

Stephan,
No, such configuration is supported.could it be a issue that the partical server is the veeam b&r server itself? (would like to have a system state backup of this physical machine!)
You can perform uninstall via Add/Remove programs and delete the corresponding registry hive manually (just in case).as i had the idea of cleaning the veeam agent from the machine...
Agent Management functionality in Veeam B&R requires valid agent license. Can you check it’s expiration date under Main Menu > License window? Thanks.always get "Error: Your license has expired, and your grace period is over. To continue using the product, obtain a new license. "

Stephan,
If that doesn't work, please open a support case and share the case ID. I'll ask RnD team to check your debug logs. Thank you.

2 suggestions for "server agent" handling:
display a trayicon (or let admin decide, at least with status information only) -> application admins on servers can review backup status easily
display the information in gui that system drives are automatically backup'd also when only selecting "volume level backup"

Hi Stephan,
Managed by server job operates with no UI on the client side since backup job is performed by backup server. However, managed by agent job (or Policy) operates with fully functional UI but in read-only mode. With last option users can perfrom restore and view stats via Control Panel.

Sweet, thanks everyone! Had this problem after switching from using Windows Agent managed by VAC to just using a full-blown 9.5U3. I was able to use regdelnull remove the key in question, and after that was able to rescan the Windows infrastructure successfully.
