B&R best practices when veeam agent is used for workstation?

Post by xudaiqing »

How should i deploy veeam B&R when veeam agent is used for workstation?

I current deloy all in one veeam backup server in workgroup on a isolated management lan.
Now i want to use veeam agent to backup client machines.

But there are problems, i think i need to join veeam backup server to the domain and open ports to the client lan in the firewall (which didn't open anything in the past).
I am not sure if those two are wise move.

Any thoughts?

Please review the required connections in the corresponding user guide section. Domain membership is not required unless you define the protection group scope via Active Directory objects.

xudaiqing,

Domain membership is, indeed, not required – you can add hosts to protection group via hostname or IP address. In addition to the ports listed in Help Center do not forget that File and Printer sharing option should be enabled on all computers you would like to protect with agents. Please, keep in mind that Agent management requires agent license to be installed in Veeam B&R console. Thanks!
