Hello,
I found out machines that are not protected in a backup job anymore have still a backup on Veeam on a StoreOnce repository even if the retention period is over (I found out backups from 2022,2023 and so on)
Won't background retention delete them?
The retention job sessions are completing succesfully.
Thanks
db

Re: Backups with expired retention are not deleted
Hi DB,
It depends on the restore point type. Was retention set to "days" or "restore points" in the job?
The background retention task only removes old restore points when retention is set to "days".
There is also a limitation for standalone agents and "Managed by Agent" policies:
Best,
Fabian

If you are not affected by one of these limitations, please contact our customer support team and provide me with the case number.[For backups created with Veeam Agent for Windows operating in standalone or managed by Veeam Agent mode] For backups linked to jobs basic retention does not apply.
