Case #07386759 Veeam Guest File restore fails

Post by Oakham »

Case #07386759

we have an issue that when I try to process a guest file restore from one of our file servers it fails with error "Restore failed Error: Neither Installer service nor Admin$ file share are available"

However this was working up until a few weeks ago. I'm just wondering if anyone else have had this issue? as we can defiantly connect to the requested servers as we have tested every connection option we can check.

Hi Oakham, welcome to the forums.

As a quick sanity check, is the ADMIN$ share perhaps disabled on the server in question? Can you connect from Windows to \\[server hostname]\ADMIN$ with the same credentials?

Please do continue with the Support Team, as I can see as of this writing Support has a pending question and I believe they're thinking in the same direction, but based on the error, the above is a nice and quick sanity check, as it sounds like it's just challenges with reaching the ADMIN$ share, but let's see what Support's investigation and isolation tests show.

Hi sacy,

In the topic creator's case, the primary issue was that the username was using dot-slash format. e.g., .\Administrator. Using domain\username (down-level logon name) resolved the issue for the backups.

If that doesn't work for you, please open a Support Case and include logs from the affected jobs for Support to review. Please share your case number here once created.

Thanks!
