CentOS 5.7

Post by Kaizad »

I am trying to backup CentOS 5.7 using VEEAM Backup and Replication 9.5. Which version of CentOS is compatible with VEEAM Backup and Replication 9.5?

Thank you

Hi,
before proceeding I need to inform you that 9.5 is already end of support.

To your question, are you trying to back it up as a VMware VM or by using Veeam Agent for Linux?
If it’s a VM we support whatever VMware supports so backup and restore should work.
If you talk about agent backup it’s a different story, but also a different sub-forum.

Let us know.

Thx

Hi KJA

Are you asking for VEEAM Backup and Replication 9.5 or Veeam Agent for Linux?
The requirements may be different between both products.

A VM can always be protected as long VmWare supports it as a Guest VM.
For the Veeam Agent, it depends on the Agent version. I believe you want to use Veeam Agent for Linux 3.0.2 with that old VBR server. You can find the supported OS versions here:

It's CentOS 6.0-7.7.

I am using VEEAM Backup and Replication 9.5 because I have a few legacy systems. I believe that the older versions of VEEAM would support my legacy servers. I understand that VM will be backed up if I have the host as VMWare ESXi. So instead of having the host added, I just want to add the VM by installing the agent through the backup job. Thats how I backup all my other servers that are running Windows Server 2008 R2 and above. Am I doing something wrong?

My main objective is to backup the VM without adding the host.

Thank you and sorry for any confusing caused.

No, using our Veeam Agent to protect a VM is a valid workaround when doing the backup through the hypervisor is not possible. Unfortunately some operating systems of your VMs are too old for our products.
