Email notifications for protection groups

I recently installed an instance of VBR community edition (v.12.3.2.3617). I enabled and configured the global email settings to receive reports of my backup jobs which are working as expected.

The issue I'm facing is receiving email notifications for the rescan jobs of my protection groups despite the email setting left unchecked. The other options are grayed out but I'm still receiving the emails at 10PM. I would like to stop receiving these emails as these groups will hardly ever change and I don't need to see these reports.
