Excluding Disk from agent backup and keeping the application aware feature.
We are having veaam B&R installed on and domain controller server which is having a additional 4 TB volume. We want to protect the DC server with application ware backup but don't want to backup the 4TB volume, that is assigned as veeam repository on the same server. Is there a way to exclude a disk /volume when we choose entire computer as backup mode for a windows physical machine?
By default we like to backup the entire computer except 1 drive. This drive is defined as a dedicated drive for veeam repository . When we run a backup it ends up in backing up the entire $TB volume and takes extended time to complete. We don't want to backup that drive anyway.
Choosing volume based backup is not an option as it will not support application ware backup. We haven't been able to find an option within Veeam B&R from centrally managed agents.

Hmm, but you can enable application aware image processing even for volume-level backup. You need to back up machine in server mode, though, to have this settings available. Thanks!

This is regarding Veeam B&R 9.5 Update 4 and agent backup managed by veeam server.
Current configuration
Job mode: Sever
Backup Mode : Entire Computer (Only option is to "Include external USB")
So where we can specify the exclusion?

If going with Backup mode "volume level backup" and object "volume to backup - operating system" can protect domain controller server? In that case the restore of item level recovery ll work as expected? How easy we can restore entire system with DC role?

Hello kunniyoor,
Should work as long as you have the application aware processing enabled. If going with Backup mode "volume level backup" and object "volume to backup - operating system" can protect domain controller server?
Yes, it will be possible to restore the files from the protected items. In that case the restore of item level recovery ll work as expected?
Should be more or less the same as for any other system. Please take a look at this Help Center article Perform Bare-Metal Recovery. Cheers! How easy we can restore entire system with DC role?
