Export to disk option missing
Hi everyone
I am currently attempting to export a backup to disk, however, following through the guide, when I get to the part where I right click the agent within the backups node, the option to export disk contents as virtual disk is missing
Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon
"Export Backup" to disk and "Export disk"(as in Agent->Virtual) are quite different. Which one you are trying?

Hi Egor
Thanks for your reply
I am trying Agent > Virtual
Want to export to a virtual disk to import to vmware vsphere on a different network
I did manage to export the backup earlier but then realised that wasn't what I needed
Thanks
Simon

Re: Export to disk option missing
And to be sure: you have Veeam Agent backup visible in Veeam Backup and Replication GUI? Just wondering what could have go wrong way...

Re: Export to disk option missing
Hi Egor
Thaks again for your reply
My experiance with Veeam is very limited at the moment, only really just getting to know my way around it
On the left of the screen I have Jobs, Backups, Replicas and Last 24 Hours
I am expanding Backups, selecting Disks, right clicking the required backup and getting the following options:
Instant VM recovery
Instant Disk recovery
Restore online VM
Restore Virtual disks
Restore VM files
Restore to Amazon
Restore to Azure
Export backups
Delete from disk
Hope that helps
Simon

Re: Export to disk option missing
Those are options for VM level backup, made without Veeam agent.
For those:
- You can use "Restore Virtual disks" to restore and map disk from backup directly to selected VM
- You can use "Restore VM files" to export particular VMDK\VHDX disk and move it over for manual operations

Re: Export to disk option missing
Hi Egor
Thanks for the info, i think the option I am going to try is the 2nd one then, I assume this will give me a VHDX file in the default location I can then copy to a portable disk
Thanks for your assistance

Re: Export to disk option missing
You are most welcome.
Btw, "Restore VM files" 2nd page of a wizard asks where to dump files to, so you should be able to select portable disk straight away
/Cheers!
