Feature Request: show all added AD objects when expanding Protection Group

Post by edison5000 »

Currently, if you have multiple AD objects in a protection group that are not all OU's (say you have individual AD computers as well as OU's) - those individual computers are not displayed in B&R under the Protection Group tab when you expand any Protection Group's contents.

The only way to see all the targeted (AD) objects in a Protection Group is to right-click a Protection Group and select 'Properties'.

Thanks!

Hi edison,

We've specifically kept the AD structure under the Protection Group very limited to avoid extra queries to the AD from the B&R server. Can you please share the use case behind your request to understand better why it's needed? Thank you!

Guess it's just a matter of time saving? : ) Either, one wants to be able to see all the AD objects in a protection group from the prot group tab, or you don't. Currently you can't. The problem we have is that it is misleading; if there are some individual AD machines added outside of an OU in a protection group, as mentioned above - you can't tell. Unless you drill into the protection group... by
- right-clicking the protection group,
- selecting "properties", and then
- selecting "active directory".

Understood, thank you!

Wait but such machine should be in the grid when you select this protection group, you do not need to go to the protection group settings.

No, not true. Only AD OU's show on expansion; no individually added AD machines. (Unless this is a bug that nobody's mentioned? vs a feature request. : )

In fact we have one protection group where every machine is an AD object that has been individually added - but you cannot see any from Protection Group list, unless, you highlight it, and look at its Properties, then in the Edit dialog, select "Active Directory".

You are right, if the container was added there is no way to view the content in the wizard too, thank you for the clarification! Noted for the request!
