Forever Forward Backup for physical volume

Post by FTL »

I have a physical server with an iscsi target to a lun on a nas with over 4 million files totalling about 3TB in size. About 1GB of new data gets written daily.

Id like to do a volume level backup and ideally have it forever forward incremental but that option only appears to be available when backing up vm's

Will take too long to sythentic backup all 3TB every week

Is there a way i can achieve this please?

Thanks

Hello,
I'm not sure what you mean. Forever forward incremental is the default setting :-)

If the synthetic full option is set, then you can remove it: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

Best regards,
Hannes

PS: REFS / XFS speeds up merges / synthetic fulls massively https://www.veeam.com/blog/advanced-ref ... suite.html

Hi

So if on the Backup tab of Advanced options i dont have anything ticked it will just do forever forward incrementals by defualt and merge the incremental files into the full backup after the retention expiry is met?

Thanks

yes, forever forward incremental is the default (meaning that the checkbox is unchecked)
