How to get backup job status for Managed by agent

Hi

I use backup job for "Managed by agent".
I set the e-mail notification on Backup job and protection group.
I could confirm that Backup job configuration has been updated, but I would like to know the backup was success or failed.

Is there any way to know backup job status?

Hi Kei

„Managed by Agent“ do not use backup jobs. It‘s called backup policies in that case.

When backup policies are used, you should get a daily summary mail of the backup policy. You can configure it in the backup policy:

I have configured daily summary mail and mail detail is the bellow.

I can only confirmed that the configuration is updated.
Actually backup data was stored to storage but there is no description about it.

Is this the some issue or normal ?

Hi Kei

I just tested in my lab. I only have configured global notifications.
I receive once a day a backup policy summary report with all Job runs from the last 24 hours.

If you don't receive that report once per day, please open a support case to analyze the issue.
Please also check your mail system if it was blocked as spam.

I confirmed that the job policy which destination is Veeam Repository is described in detail on e-mail,
but the job policy which destination is shared folder is described as above e-mail.

I would like to know backup detail in the share folder destination.

I checked again with a shared folder as the repository. I got this mail after I rescanned the protection group:

Note:
Session Statistics for Backup Policies target to a shared folder will not be available automatically after the policy has run. The statistics will be transferred to the backup server when you rescan the protection group.
Make sure, that the protection group is rescanned automatically on a regular basis. If there is no rescan of the protection group, you won't get a mail for your shared folder backup policy.

If a Veeam Agent backup job creates backup files on a local drive of a Veeam Agent computer, in a network shared folder or in a Veeam Cloud Connect repository, backup job session results are not passed to Veeam Backup & Replication in real time. Statistics for such backup sessions becomes available in Veeam Backup & Replication later, after rescan of a protection group that contains computers added to the backup policy. This process happens regularly upon the discovery schedule defined in the protection group settings.

The bellow is the configuration summary.

Job Mode: Managed by agent
Computers: two Linux server
Backup mode: Entire computer
Destination: Shared folder
Storage>Advanced>Notification: Send daily e-mail repot to the following recipients: xxxxx@xxxx.xxx, Use global notification settings

You should have received two mails at the time you defined in the global notification setting.
One for the protection group rescan and one with the backup policy report.

If not, you must open a support case. I cannot help further over the forums.

[MERGED] Agent backup mail notification

Hi

I would like to know mail notification when I use managed by Agent.
I tested two types of backup, backup to Veeam backup repository and shared folder.

As for backup to veeam backup repository, I got the detail information on mail.
But, as for back up to shared folder, I got only information for "Backup job configuration has been updated".

Hi Kei

Same question from you as in October. Same answer from me is still valid.

Managed by Agent (backup policies) will only have a daily summary of the job sessions. But you need to rescan the protection group to receive the session details from the agent when you use shared folder as a target.

Hi Fabian

Soryy for forgetting my question in the past..
Rescanning the protection group means the configuration "Options > Discovery > Rescan protection group every.." right ?

My configuration is:
Daily incremental Backup : PM 1:00 (finish for a few minitues)
Rescan protection group : PM 2:00
Send daily e-mail report : PM 3:00

In my understanding, after the backup, VBR rescan and get the session details.
So I will get the detail from e-mail.

If my understanding is incorrect, please let me know.

Yes, your understanding is correct.
In my test on Oct 31st, I got the backup session mail after the rescan.

I stopped the share folder and I confirmed the backup is failure on VBR console.
After the rescan, I checked the e-mail, but the result is same...(success)
