IP Address Changes

Post by Itdweeb99 »

I am migrating my servers and my veeam backup and replication server to a new subnet so the IP addresses and subnets will change on my production servers and my veeam server. I'm reading and it looks like if I use the IP addresses to backup my servers (which I do), I will run into problems. Is there any way to update the IPs for the managed servers or do i literally have to create new jobs like someone mentioned in the forums?

Hi Itdweeb99,

It shouldn't be a problem if all the agent jobs are Managed by Veeam B&R, but pay attention to Standalone Agents.
You can migrate Veeam B&R server to new IP address by following the migration procedure.
As a result, you will have a new Veeam B&R server with all settings, jobs and etc. from the old server.

Afterwards, if you have the agents added to Protection Groups by IP, you need to remove the existing agents from the protection group, re-add them by the new IPs (or FQDN if it's resolvable), and then you can continue with new jobs.

Thank you!

Hello Marina,

I have a similar case. I'm only changing the IP address of the Veeam server. Can I change it and reboot the Windows server? Or do I need to follow any special procedure?

Thank you
