manual adhoc-backup (not in schedule)

Post by mart85 »

Hello Forum

1.
Can an authorized user backup a file/folder/partition with the "Self Service" if there is no backup-schedule for that object/data?

2.
Is it possible to add some text notes to such adhoc-backups (e.g. in order to be able to easily identify/locate this special
backup-set upon restore-requests)?

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi Mart,

We have no self-service portal for that kind of purpose. An authorized user that can run Veeam B&R console is the local administrator-level user.
Do you want to make an ad-hoc backup on a backup Agent managed by Veeam B&R?

Can you elaborate a bit on the scenario?

Thanks!

Since we are not yet using Veeam, it's a good question.

Maybe "Endpoint Backup" could be used for this task, but we should be able to select even folders and single files...
In addition we should be able to define to how many barckup-targets the data should be saved to (dual-copy).

Any ideas about what methods would work for this special adhoc-backup requirement?

Thanks for your feedback!

I asked about the Agent since it's a subforum for discussions related to backup Agents managed by Veeam B&R.

You can download Veeam B&R Community Edition for free. It allows you to evaluate the majority of available features including Agent management.
The best choice right now is to wait for Veeam B&R v10, which is just around the corner.

It is possible to initiate ad-hoc backups, which can be moved to the secondary, tertiary destination by using a backup copy job.
Can you provide details on this requirement? Thanks!
