Need help with B&R managed remote site agent backup/seeding
Hi there,
Need some help with how to configure Backup/Backup Copy for agent backup on remote site.
Veeam B&R console installed on site A.
1 Physical server on site B with 2 USB disks connected.
Goal is to have site B Physical server backs up to local USB disk 1 then Backup Copy to site A B&R server.
What I plan to do:
1. Make USB disk 1 as Veeam backup repository One in B&R console.
2. Create Agent job in console as "Managed by backup server Mode" then backup to repository One.
3. Make USB disk 2 as repository Two, then create a Backup Copy job to replicate backups from One to Two.
4. Send USB disk 2 to site A, move backup chain to server repository, remap Backup Copy job.
Will this plan work? i am not sure if I should use backup server mode or agent mode, and how to seed agent backups.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Need help with B&R managed remote site agent backup/seed
Hi Ming,
Your plan looks good and one of the important things here is to use the Agent Job in console as "Managed by backup server mode".
Since, it won't work if you create a backup by Standalone agent job.
Please review this KB2321, it should help you to set everything up right. Thanks!

Re: Need help with B&R managed remote site agent backup/seeding
Hi,
I tried to move agent backup in agent-managed mode to locally attached USB drive to transfer to central backup server.
When I scan repository the backup is imported, but when I configure a new agent job, I cannot map the backup.
Is it possible to map local backup to the new job?
thanks
Christian Grebing

Hi Christian,
You cannot map a new agent job to the backup created by another agent job.
The original agent-managed job can be mapped to the backup in the new location, but the folder structure to the backup files should be the same as it was before the migration.
Thanks!
