Oracle Point in time recovery

Post by wim_vg »

Our oracle databases are included in the Veeam image backup (application aware) and we backup the transaction every hour.
We are able to do a point in time recovery with these thru the Veeam interface but when a datafile was added after the image backup, we are not able to do a point in time recovery to a point in time after the datafile was added.

Do we need to trigger a new image backup each time a datafile is added to make sure we can restore/recover ?

Yes, this is the case. Archive Log backups in general with any solution do not include any database specific data files.
