Protecting a Dell physical server and it's one VM. Some quick questions pls

Post by fvnet »

Hello dear friends,
I am pretty new to Veeam and I just need to clarify something.
This is the scenario and I will write in plain language.

One Dell T330 physical server running 2008R2 SP1.
This is running AD for 10 users and also hosts a VM (2012R2) which is just a terminal RDP server.
A Synology NAS with plenty of TBs to store files and whatever.

There is absolute need to do a weekly backup of the physical server itself and also the VM. Even a monthly one would be OK as changes there as rare.

Am I right to assume that the Community edition will do the job for me and especially will allow me to boot the physical server from a CD\DVD and restore the previous backup of something goes wrong?
Or in worst case, if Dell T330 fails, I can go and buy a new one, install windows 2016 and configure HyperV. Will I be able to restore the previous physical backup of the 2008R2 to a new VM and the 2012R2 VM again to a new?
Thank you so much in advance

Hello, yes you can do all that with the Community Edition. Thanks!
