Protection Group Emails

Post by JPMS »

We have a small stable environment so we changed the default Protection Group scanning to once a week.

However, we still get daily emails to the effect of:
Assigned 2 Success 2 No new hosts found.
Seen 2 Warnings 0
Updated 0 Errors 0
Name IP address Status Operating System Details
Server1 192.168.1.1 Success Microsoft Windows Server 2019 (1809, 64-bit) Backup agent installation is not required
Server2 192.168.1.2 Success Microsoft Windows Server 2019 (1809, 64-bit) Backup agent installation is not required

If we are scanning weekly, should we be getting these emails daily? All our backup emails have to be checked and although it isn't much extra in one day, it's over 700 in a year (we have two protection groups)!

I have a similar issue, although the protection group is disabled, I still get those emails. With 9.5 this wasn’t the case.

I should have said in my original post that I'm using v10. You are correct FrancWest, this didn't happen with v9.5.

Hello folks,

Email reports should be created only in case any rescan activity was performed. Please raise a support case and share the case ID with me - I'll ask our QA folks to check. Cheers!

Case #04036400

That said, for the first time, I haven't received the emails tonight. I hope this isn't going to be one of those problems that disappears as soon as you open a case!

From our support case it appears that even when you disable a protection group and don't have notifications configured on that group it uses the global notification options set under 'General options -> E-mail settings' when you perform a manual scan on that protection group.

To me that doesn’t make much sense. Why would you sent a report many hours later if you perform a manual scan for which you can see the results yourself in the dialog that shows up when initiating the manual scan?
