Restore from agent on different vm.

Post by Andanet »

Hello all,
I did a search and found nothing about this scenario.
A customer ask us to restore x number of files from a vm to another VM in Oracle cloud.
Is it possible to restore from agent taking on another VM backup on VEEAM B&R? If yes how is it possible?
Agent on OCI VM will not do backup. Only used for restore.
What kind of agent edition is needed?
Thanks

Hello,
are you asking about the "copy to" functionality? That even works without agent on the target side. It works VM to VM or VM to physical or the other way around.

Best regards,

Hi Hannses,
thanks for you reply.
I think customer idea is more similar to a File copy from a backupped vm to another server using a powershell script when vm is running.
Do you think is correct?

I know is a strange request. I try to explain scenario better.
customer has an on-prem vm (called VM1) backupped with Veeam.
has a poweroff vm (called VM2) in Oracle cloud
Every morning customer schedule a VM2 power on, then he wants a powershell script to restore some files from VM1.
How is possible to do this?
Thanks

sure, that's possible. the powershell script needs to to the following

- start file level restore of VM1
- copy from c:\veeamflr\... (assuming it's Windows) to the VM2
- stop file level restore of VM1
