V12 compatibility with 2008r2
Hello guys!
I'm trying update our environment to V12, but I stuck in some error, but it's not clear for me what impacts I will have 'forcing' these updates.
[Error] Unsupported Microsoft Windows OS
Please upgrade or remove the following servers from the product configuration:
Server1 (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2),
Server2 (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2),
Server3 (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2),
Server4 (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2),
Server5 (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2)
These servers are File servers, reading the documentation it's mention nonsupport to Backup Servers, but in my vision these servers are 'clients' from Veeam perspective.
Basically they are 'managed servers' in Veeam manager.
Someone could explain better for me what impacts and cons in go ahead with that update.

Hello!
You can't go ahead with the upgrade in principle, as it will be blocked until you remove these servers from the configuration.
If you need support for Windows Server 2008 R2, you should stay on V11.
Thanks!

^^
From reading the compatibility list for V12/Agent6, it appears that that statement is true only if the 2008 R2 instances lack SP1, is that correct?
Because that page lists:
So if I have a VM running Server 2008 R2 SP1, and I'm not using the CBT driver anyway, I should be safe to upgrade my server to V12, correct?

with the footnote "Veeam CBT driver is supported only if Microsoft Windows update KB3033929 is installed on the Veeam Agent computer."Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

I'm not an expert with VB&R, but I can tell you that I am on v12.1 and backing up one Win2008 R2 VM that's still around. FYI, there is _no_ Veeam-related application installed on that machine, it is a client only. If you're getting blocked, maybe you have it configured with one of the VB&R server roles?

Re: V12 compatibility with 2008r2
I upgraded my B&R Server a few days ago from V11 to V12.1.1.56 a few weeks ago, and my Server 2008 R2 SP1 VM is backing up correctly.
mdowney, when you say "there is _no_ Veeam-related application installed on that machine" do you mean you don't see any Veeam-titled applications in your Programs and Features control panel? Because here's mine, in glorious 2008 UI:
