Veeam Agent 2.1 Backup Cache

Post by dance84 »

Hey Guys,

I Installed Veeam 9.5 U3 and centralized all the workstations, nice.
But I do not found the Stttings to enable the Backup Cache.

When i configure a backup job the settings are not available in the workstations settings.
A look on the centralized clients showed, that Backup Cache is therefore greyed out.

But I need the Backup Cache really, a lot of employees are offside at customers...
Is there a possibility ?

greetings

Hi Stefan,

This option is currently unavailable in backup policy for windows workstations but we plan to add it soon.

[MERGED] VAW Managed by B&R missing options

Post by rpurdue »

Hello,
Several key features seem to be missing from the VAW configuration options within the B&R console. Is there anyway at this time to centrally manage these options for clients? We need the central management and reporting, but also the options that are not included.

Backup to onedrive
Backup cache
Email notifications

There also seems to be no way to setup a simple, once a month full backup. That is all we need.

Hi,

Regarding backup cache - please see Dima's reply. As to email notification settings - they can be found here.

Thanks

Is there an ETA on the backup cache?
How about being able to do a simple full backup once a month?

Unfortunately we cannot provide ETA yet. Here is an existing topic for more info.

My bad, I've missed that part of the question. You can configure full backup to occur once a month in Advanced setting.

Thanks

in my testing, i am also seeing incrementals being created . I just need one monthly full, no incrimentals. How should the "Schedule" page be filled out? Or does it need to be filled out at all?

Just set full to start once a month (first monday of a month, for example) in advanced settings, and set the job itself to start at the same day that you specified in full settings.

Thanks

This is for the full version of windows workstation, not server
In advanced settings, i have active full backup set to once a month
On the schedule tab, i have daily at 10:00PM, on these days - Saturday.

This means it will backup every Saturday, causing in one months time, 3 incrimentals and 1 full.

Workstation schedule options are limited by design, for "once a month" schedule you should switch to "Server" mode. The only possible workaround is, if you use USB attached storage, to choose "When backup target is connected" scheduling option and schedule a script in workstation's Task Scheduler that would mount/unmount USB drive once a month.

Thanks

How does that work with licensing? I only have 100 workstation licenses

To configure agent jobs of "Server" type you need the "Server" agent licenses to be installed on VBR.

Thanks
