Veeam Agent Licence

Post by YannickMetz »

Hello,

we are trying to backup some physical servers with veeam agent, managed by our backup server. When i create a new job with the server to be backed up, i choose "Managed by backup server" option.
No problems in the job creation. But when i start the job, it fails with an error that says "a paid veeam agent licence is needed".
I understand this message but where do i install the veeam agent licence since its not possible to import multiple licence files to veeam. We have an enterprise plus licence installed.

do we have to merge those licences?

Thank you!
Best regards Yannick

Hi Yannick, which VBR version are you using right now? 9.5 Update 3 or 4? Normally, the amount of agent licenses is included in the license file and if you go to the license pane you can see this.

It will say something like:
Instances 100 (2 used)

Hi,

its 9.5 U4. There are no instances used. The option "Allow unlicenced agents to consume instances" is disabled.
What effect will it take on my licence when i activate this option?

In order to write to backup repository agent needs to use paid license. This checkbox does exactly that - allows unlicensed agents to consume instances. Thanks!
