Windows 11 Unable to add Remote Server
When trying to add a Remote Windows Server I kept getting Invalid Network Path. I checked all the usual suspects and everything checked good. I switched from the Internet IP to the Local IP. I then found admin$ was inaccessible. Windows 11 is blocking the built-in admin account. I enabled the built-in admin account and set a password. I added the Windows Server using the built-in admin account credentials. I then disabled the built-in admin account. This took hours, if not days of troubleshooting. I hope it helps someone.

Re: Windows 11 Unable to add Remote Server
Update! Remote Windows Server is now Unavailable after disabling built-in admin account. Duh! How can this be fixed so that the built-in admin account doesn't have to be enabled?

Hi Technogod
Disable RemoteUAC, then you can use any admin user to add your windows machine:
https://www.veeam.com/kb4185
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
DWORD: LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy
Value: 1
Best,
Fabian

Re: Windows 11 Unable to add Remote Server
I tried that. It did not fix the problem. Disabling UAC Remote Restrictions didn't fix the problem either. Has Veeam tested this with Windows 11? Below is an excerpt from KB4185.
If the Windows machine being added to Veeam Backup & Replication is not joined to a domain and is not a server OS, the built-in Administrator account will have to be enabled and a password set for it. Then, that account should be used to add the machine to Veeam Backup & Replication.

Of course we test Windows 11. You can find supported Windows 11 versions for Veeam Agent deployment in our help center.
- Microsoft Windows 11 (from version 21H2 to version 23H2)
Please open a case with our customer support team if you are using a supported version. As mentioned in our forum policies, we are not able to provide technical support over this forum.

Re: Windows 11 Unable to add Remote Server
I'm trying to help you. This is a known issue and Veeam needs to address it. Windows 10 can access the admin$ share with no problem. Windows 11 can not access this share. How are you going to fix it?

Re: Windows 11 Unable to add Remote Server
This is not a known issue, if it was there would be 10+ pages long topic about it here considering it's the most widely used OS in the world. So please open a support case and our support engineer will troubleshoot what is special about your machine.

Re: Windows 11 Unable to add Remote Server
Oh yes it is. Look on the Internet. There are tons of posts about users not being able to access admin$ on Windows 11. It's a security risk. Just saying.
