Backup Copy jobs files --> To tape
Hi,
I have a backup copy job running continuously between site A and B.
On site B, I want to run a File to tape job to backup the backup copy job folder.
How can I do that knowing the files are modified non stop ?
Thanks.
Eric

Hi,
Thank you.
Even if you run Backup Copy Job continiously its files are modified only if a new backup file appears on the source side. Is there an option to use Backup To Tape job with backup copy job as a source? How can I do that knowing the files are modified non stop
Thank you.

Eric, backup files are not constantly modified during backup copy job (and are locked while being modified). You can schedule the file to tape job so that it does not interfere with the backup copy, however, even if the backup copy comes in while file to tape is underway, the latter is just stopped.

Re: Backup Copy jobs files --> To tape
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
The tape device is located on the target site so I can't do that.
I guess, as the backup copy job is configured to keep 4 monthly restore points (archive), I can set up my File to Tape job to only backup the .VBK generated in the folder ?
Regards,
Eric

So, backups are on site A, backup copies are on site B, tape drive is on site A, is that correct? The tape device is located on the target site so I can't do that.

Re: Backup Copy jobs files --> To tape
By default, it will copy all the new restore points, inluding GFS ones. But you can set up a pre-job script to copy only the last full backup file.

I guess I wasn't clear: the tape device is on site B with the backup copy job files.

Adding include mask for file to tape job might help you to process only the .vbk files at site B.I can set up my File to Tape job to only backup the .VBK generated in the folder
