Hello,
We have two NetApp FAS2750 cabinets to which we are going to migrate files from a Windows File Server (around 10 TBs and several million files) and an HPE StoreEver MSL2024 Tape Library with two SAS units.
Since Veeam does not yet support NDMP, I submit the following theoretical solution to valuation.
Would it be possible to share the tape library (one drive connected to the NetApp booth by a SAS port and the other drive connected to a Veeam Tape Servder by another SAS port)?
In this way, we could use a drive for Veeam Tape Jobs and the other drive to work with another Backup solution that supports NDMP.
Another query:
File to Tape Jobs as a backup solution for NetApp files Cifs would be viable with so many files?
Could we restore specific files or folders without needing to restore the full volume?
Would it in any way register the copied files?
Would you need a Veeam Server database in SQL format?
Thank you.

Re: Backup from NetApp Cifs.
Hello,
Veeam supports NDMP since a few months
For future: NAS backup to disk is planned for the next major release.
Best regards,
Hannes

hard to say, sometimes it's okay for that size. But I don't recommend it. You can try with SQL standard (too much data for express), to backup a snapshot, but as said, not recommended!File to Tape Jobs as a backup solution for NetApp files Cifs would be viable with so many files?
